There are so many things to do in Las Vegas for free that you’ll soon come to realize, if you haven’t already, that it’s not a city that’s only tuned into the high rollers! Among the most spectacular shows is that at the Bellagio Fountain, which is located in an eight-acre wide lake in front of the Bellagio Hotel. The hotel can be seen in the movie, Ocean’s Eleven. Spanning over 1,000 feet in length, the fountain consists of in excess of 1,000 water nozzles, some of which shoot water as high as 250 feet, in harmony with musical patterns. The water gives the illusion that it is dancing in time to the music, and is lit by 4,000 lights. Another watery treat is the huge Aquarium at the Silverton, consisting of 117,000 gallons of saltwater viewing delight.
If you are into viewing spectacular lightshows, why not also take part in the Fremont Street Experience, which includes a daily free lightshow that makes it a not-to-be-missed experience on any Las Vegas trip. The entire show is screened on the giant Viva Vision screen, which is one of the largest in the world. For sheer excitement and thrills there is little to beat the fabulous spectacle of 12 million lights, and music blasting from the sound system. What a great way to get your groove on!
If your time is limited in Vegas and you want to combine both indoor and outdoor activity, you could visit the Ethel M Chocolate Factory Tour and Cactus Garden. After learning all you can about chocolate making, spend some time checking out the plants that are specially adapted to the arid climate of the Arizona Desert. You will no doubt recall many a Western while viewing the ocotillo, prickly pear and saguaros in the cactus garden. Whatever you choose to do, you cannot help but come away with the realization that there are, indeed, lots of things to do in Las Vegas for free!
